i agree about 99.9% with the statement of "lowers are lowers" in the ar15 world. They all fall under the mil-spec category and while some may hold tighter tolerances than others, I dont feel its enough to change accuracy (we are talking lowers right now). I have used Anderson lowers when assembling ARs for buddies and put a good barrel/bolt in it and it shot very well.
I only have large framed ARs anymore and I use only AeroPrecision enhanced uppers because I like how the handguard bolts to the upper and not the barrel nut (this satisfies the OCD in me from being an engineer)...allows the barrel to truly be free floated from outside forces. Also, because of large frame ARs not having a specific specification to abide by like the ar15 does, I always use AeroPrecision lowers so I know the uppers/lowers will mate correctly.
This being said, if I came across a good deal on an ar15 lower...I would buy it and then just buy an M4E1 upper/handguard from AeroPrecision. Check out AeroPrecision's website for deals or Schuyler Arms or GraniteRidge. I have used all three of these depending on which deals were available.
Also, I used a Ballistic Advantage stainless barrel on my .308 AeroPrecision and with factory boxed ammo, I shot 10 shots within an inch...one after another. They have a sub moa guarantee with FIVE shots rather than the usual manufacturers 3 shot. I am not saying that these barrels are the most accurate BUT for the price I feel they are hard to beat. GraniteRidge has 32% off Ballistic Advantage barrels right now....so peep their site and see what kind of savings you can come up with.
