These guys did mine a couple years ago. Have had no issues. Very close to my work as well so that was what made me go in there initially.

Just mount rings and the scope. It is on a Ruger American Predator

Which tools? Any recommendations? Assume I have nothing other than a gun cleaning kit.

You can do it with the allen wrench supplied with the scope rings. You can also use a wheeler torque wrench from amazon for $40.

If you can change a tire, you can mount a scope.
