Going to buy a new rifle next week (6.5 creedmoor) what’s the best way to break in the barrel.

clean it...shoot it. Break in period is not needed.

Cleaned my ruger American once I bought it. Shot 5 times and cleaned at the range and then sighted in. It’s a bullet hole cutter. 6.5 creed as well

Everyone has a different opinion on it. I say, clean it, shoot it, clean it, shoot it, clean it, shoot it. You get the idea.

Just read this:
http://www.6mmbr.com/gailmcmbreakin.html
Clean your barrel when you get it as the OEM will often put grease or oil in the bore to inhibit rust. Then shoot it.

Had one re-barrelled and asked the 'smith about break-in. He said a dozen dead pigs would do it.

I strongly disagree with foregoing the break-in process. Check out the break-in procedures on Bartlein's website. I have used their methods a few times now and it works very well.

Initial clean grease. Shoot it until it looses zero. Clean.
Went 650 Rounds with my CM before needing cleaning.
