    Scope for 6.5 grendel

What scope do y'all have on your 6.5 Grendel? It will mostly be used for deer and hog hunting. Probably my 12 yr old will be primary shooter. Every once in a while plinking but mostly shots less than 300 yards. Hunting shots less than 250 yards. what glass would you put on it?

Leupold 3-9 for those ranges. Great glass on the vx2 and vx3... also a fan of the lower end vortex stuff.

I'm not impressed with Vortex scopes. I love their binoculars! My dad has a vortex viper on his AR and we were shooting the other day. I have a discontinued Brunton Eterna scope on mine. He couldn't even see the target through his scope it was flaring so badly. The Brunton was crystal clear. I would personally go with a Leupold or Nikon depending on budget.

I would have your Dad send the scope back to Vortex and have it looked at. It sounds as though there are problems with the scope. I have a Viper PST and it is pretty dang good for the money. I have no issues shooting 4" groups at 750 on a calm day. Is it a Nightforce....no but it doesn't cost $2500 either.

              I was running a Sig Tango 4 4-16x44. I just upgraded to a Tango 4 6-24x50.

                Sig optics are pretty impressive.

It won't matter. That's been my beef with them. I've had multiple ones replaced and the problem still persists. I don't have any experience with the Gen 2 PSTs to know if they corrected the issue.

I built my Grendel years ago and put a Vortex Viper PST with ebr-2c reticle. It hasn't failed me yet and I shot it out to 500, but the glass is not very good compared to my Nightforce or leupy's.
If I was to do it all over today, I'd be looking at the VX3i's.

Surprisingly the primary arms 308/223 4-14x44 scope is pretty sweet for being at right below $300 if youre on a budget. Glass is crisp and I have 1 with the acss hud reticle on my long range 308. Lots of features packed in it as well.

Not going to "comment" on a brand mentioned but owned two of them and sold 'em soon after I put them to use...now,

I'll get trashed on this, but Nikon Pro Staff or Monarch (depending on budget) in a 50mm so you choose the magnification. The boy's and I have nothing but Nikon on all our rifles whether in a AR platform or bolt.

My AR Grendel has a 50mm, don't remember the magnification unless I open the safe but I use the Leopold 1 piece rings/base on ALL our AR's and it shoots more accurate than I can...let my sniper son try it out last time he was home and just say...he loved it.
