What to do with Sig P226?

I'm considering getting rid of my new favorite gun to shoot because I'm not sure that it will fit the bill for concealed carry. I'm talking about my Sig P226. It is relatively new to me and I shot it for the first time last week. It was the best feeling gun that I've shot and it pointed super well. I went to the local holster store to look at some CC holsters. One of the guys suggested that I wouldn't be happy trying to conceal it compared to my 1911 and Glock 19. I'm inclined to agree since I can barely keep both of those from printing with the baggiest of shirts. (5'10" 155#)

My question is: what should I do with the Sig?

    1. Buy a concealed carry holster and try it out
    2. Trade/sell the Sig and get something more compact (if so, what is the latest and greatest?)
    3. Keep it for nothing more than a house gun and range gun

Frankly, I don't worry about my weapon printing. I try to keep it concealed but nobody notices if it prints. If you can conceal a Glock 19 well this one shouldn't be that much different.

get a iwb holster and it should remedy your problems, ive been carrying that way for about 30 years in the appendix carry with and without a holster at times and yes it does take some getting used to, but hip carry prints too much small of the back is cool for tv movies but its a more natural action to reach down toward your pocket than the small of your back, think of this also when your in line anywhere the guy behind you is closer to your weapon than you are, especially in the men's room in the urinal line when your hand or hands are busy. just saying..........

I wouldn't overthink trying to keep it from printing a little bit. Unless, of course you are carrying it somewhere you shouldn't..I was never really fond of IWB holsters, and neither am I fond of tiny carry guns. I figure if I ever do need to use it, I like the bigger guns. I carry my XD .45 OWB, shirttail out and don't worry if it prints a little.

Thanks for the reassurance. I have been looking at Alien Gear's new modular holster but they don't make it for the P226 yet. I like that it can be configured for all three types of carry mentioned here. I might hang on to it to see if they eventually make one. I currently have a Serpa (came with the gun) but it's way too bulky to carry comfortably. Any recommendations on a comfortable holster for a full size gun?

I wouldn't worry about it that much. In over a decade of carrying a weapon in plain clothes, I've never noticed anyone looking to see if I was carrying. I carry some big guns too. Carry what you like and enjoy your day.

My preferred holster is a MaxTuck by White Hat Holsters. It's a horsehide and kydex hybrid that is so comfortable I forget I have it on sometimes.

I agree with the above. But even if you decide not to carry it, you should keep it AND get a subcompact. I try my hardest never to sell guns, just keep accumulating...

This is the holster I bought at GTdistributers here in Austin. My sig p226 fits like a glove In This holster and barley is noticeable. They are on sale now through their site.

As said above, iwb holster. I actually find that guns hide better when i tuck in my shirt, and im similar frame (6' 0" and 150#). I carry at my right hip or just behind. Carried a glock 19, ruger sr9c with the full mag, and my revolver like this. No issues.

Regardless of the outcome, don't get rid of something that handles and points so well for you. That will always make a great house or truck gun with a good mag capacity, plus just making it that much more fun to take to the range

Guns are like tools, you have to have more than one tool. Keep the 226 and buy a carry weapon.

I'm 5'9 and carry a Sig 226 in an IWB holster just fine. I can't even feel the gun when I'm driving. I order holsters from Kramer Leather. You have to wait about 4-6 weeks but they are excellent quality. Carry whatever gun you feel confident shooting.

Shoulder holster. I always wear long sleeve shirts and my P6 is never noticable.
