    6.5 Creedmoor Ammo - Projectile Weight ?

I'm looking at a 6.5 Creedmoor right now, but it's a 1:9 twist barrel, vice the 1:8 I'm seeing in other manufacturers like Ruger and Savage. I know I'll probably be limited to 130 grain and below with that twist, so I started looking at factory loads to base future reloading data off of. I'm seeing a lot of heavier weight ammo. That got me thinking....

I have never shot this cartridge. Will I be just fine with the 1:9 custom barrel, or should I hold out and get a 1:8 twist to shoot the heavier projectiles? What seems to be the more / most popular loads? I checked Ammoguide earlier, and there is a huge spread, from really light, to fairly heavy.

Will be using it for hunting Texas deer and hogs with max range probably at about 200 yards. May get a shot at an Axis sooner or later.

    All the best,
    Glenn

Hornady has a 129 gr that should do fine on deer and pigs. Many deer have died with much smaller projectiles.

If you're not shooting past 4-500 yds, almost any 130gr should be fine

If you need some 130's to try out, I've got accubonds and sgkhpbt's.
            Let me know

Thanks everyone. I think I'm going to hold out for a 1:8.

I just picked up some 100 gn TTSX to see what kind of velocity/expansion I can get out of them, but I haven't tried them out yet.

Probably would be. I passed on it, and someone else already bought it. Guess it wasn't meant to be.
