    Christensen Arms Mesa

Anyone have any experience with this new rifle? Looking at possibly getting one to use in Colorado for elk/mule deer, but would like to hear some first hand reviews before making my decision. Also trying to decide on caliber. Would the 7mag or 300 win mag have too much recoil even with the brake on the lightweight design? Or would it be better to go with a short action? Thanks

I don't but know a bunch of folks that love them. Lots of guys over on LongRangeHunting.com use Christensen Arms rifles. I'd have no hesitation buying one of their rifles.

The recoil should be manageable with the brake but it's such a subjective thing. A super light rifle, even with a brake, is not going to be a rifle most people are going to want to spend shooting all day, in 300wm. It'll be fine for a strict hunting rifle at short-medium range. But not ideal for a long range precision rifle that you shoot a lot at practice, unless you're a glutton for punishment.

If your looking at that level of rifle please do yourself a favor and look at Proof Research rifles
