You'll love it!! Here's my take on 270 vs 6.5x(add a number), 6mm, and a lot of the 7mm08 or what ever magnum round is cartridge availability. Now before some of you guys get huffy puffy, what I mean is let's say you pack your things, head on a remote hunt be it Colorado, New Mexico, Deep South Texas and you a) left your bullets at home, or b) lose them while hunting for what ever reason. It sure is easy to find .270 Ammo at the local Walmart, general store, feed store...

At normal ranges.... something in 6.5 mm....... long range a magnum in 7mm or 30 caliber. Are you wanting caliber or cartridge suggestions?

What model 30-06 do you currently have?

If I really enjoyed a rifle and barrel was shot I'd get it rebarreled before buying new.

It's a Remington 770, in my opinion I don't think it's worth putting a new barrel on it.

All my friends have the 270 caliber and I am seriously considering it! I have also heard great things about the Weatherby Vanguard, any thoughts on that one?

I dont think you can do better than the 06. The .270 would be my close second. I own both. The 06 with 180gr. Is a ham hammer!
