    Shotgun load for pigs

Any experience killing hogs with a 12 gauge? Feeder is 35 yards or so from my ground blind. 28" autoloader with full or modified choke. I also have a pump I can use with 20" cylinder bore. What will work best? Just looking for a fun change from the bow or AR and wanting to kill as many as possible.

Double oo buck works well with the longer barrel

I've killed a whole bunch with 00 like mentioned above.

At 35 yds full choke, 3inch, 2's or BB will work.

We always used single ought buckshot in 12 gauge, almost the same size as double ought and get more pellets per shell with single ought.

I used 00 and 000 buckshot in 3 1/2 length in my SBE, and 'sprayed and prayed' at a sounder under my feeder, and killed 4 out of 6 hogs. I creeped to 30 or 35 yards out. Pretty effective!

If you want to have some fun, old timer showed me this trick.

Will have to load individually as a single shot, Do cycle them

                  1) Take your low cost shot shell 7, 8's, does not matter
                  2) Using knife, cut through the "plastic casing" only in middle to front section of wad
                  3) Single load and shoot them
                  4) Will send entire plug or mass out beyond 100 yards accurately

I am quite sure this will roll a pig. Poor man's slug.

bb is what i wpuld go with... in the most mag round with solid spread.

If im shotgunning i want more than 1 pig impacted at a time... i want a street sweeper

35 yds, I'd use #4 buck and a Mod choke. 3x as many pellets as 00, and plenty deadly.
I wouldn't use a full choke at that range. Hogs will obviously scatter after the first shot, so its gonna get real exciting, real quick.
If its sows with a bunch of piglets, I'd go with BB loads.
Take the plug out of the autoloader and have a blast!

I have been using Defender rounds in a 28" 12ga. It has a 1oz slug and three OO buck pellets.

My preferred load is 3" mag #4 buckshot---41 pellets per round and it is a multi-kill round for me.

Be careful if you do this. It works, but watch a youtube video before you try it for the first time.
