    MPI Stocks

So, I'm looking to turn my already light Kimber Montana 8400 300WSM into an even lighter weight mountain rifle.

Has anyone used MPI Stocks? They have a Micro-Lite that weighs "about 9oz"...

Along with that question, any recommendations on a gunsmith you'd trust in bedding on a new stock as well as some mill work in Texas?

Based on my experience, they're either a hit or miss. Years ago MPI stocks were horrible with poor in-letting and layered with "Popsicle sticks" (see below pic). Things may have changed as I personally wouldn't buy one today; especially since they cost $700.

If you want a LW stock, go with a Brown Precision "Pound'r" made with Kevlar. Most people use a Brown for their Sheep build rifles. http://brownprecision.com/precision-...nished-stocks/
