I'd be in as well, a private range like Horitexan suggested would be better than a public range.

There is a 650 in Axtel, outside of Waco that I go to sometimes. That could be an option, but If it were a good day planned, I would travel just about anywhere in TX for it.

Another option might be at a private farm or ranch. Some folks over on Snipers Hide hosted such an event a couple years ago at one of their farms (which I unfortunately was unable to attend). They gathered at the farm not far from town one evening for a cook and some brew, and then pounded steel targets at known and unknown distances the next day, and I think some branched off the next night to try their hand at hogs and coyotes. Sounded like a lot of fun.

Golden Triangle Gun Club here in Beaumont is a private members only range but allows guests. They have a rifle range to 600 yards, another to 200, rimfire range to 100, action pistol area and bench pistol to 25 yards. I'm a member and could probably set something up. They are having a military rifle match this Saturday morning that is open to anyone, member or not and an idpa match on the action pistol area that is also open to anyone. These matches are relaxed and fun and not highly competitive. Great way to sharpen up on your shooting skills.
