    Lights out for Feral cat

I was looking it the front kitchen window this evening and saw a cat sitting on my drive way. (I've lost several baby chicks lately during the day, so I've been watching for unwelcome critters) Anyway, I got my little RAR 22 with my Specter II screwed on the end of it, and slipped out the front door. Walked up the drive way about 30 yards, and saw it sitting there, just staring back at me. It was about 35-40 yards when I popped off a round. It did a back flip, and rolled off into the grass. After I walked up ther to inspect it, I popped it right between the eyes. I was shooing CCI standard velocity rounds, at 1070 fps. I was surprised, and impressed with the damage it did. I've always heard that more people have been Killed with a 22 lr than any other round. There may be some truth to that.
I was mostly tickled that I now have access to my guns once again. For the last two weeks , they have been locked in my safe that I was unable to open, due to a bad electronic keypad. Finally got it opened, and the keypad replaced.

Great shot, but I would delete this thread if I were you. A guy did some jail time a few years ago for shooting feral cats. It was a big animal rights thing on the news.

            Too late. It's on:

Police: Bandera man shot and killed neighbor’s cat

            Amanda C. Coyne
            7:14 p.m Thursday, May 31, 2017 Bandera County

A Bandera County man is charged with aggravated animal cruelty after police say he shot and killed his neighbor’s cat.

Two people told Bandera County deputies that they heard a muffled or silenced gunshot coming from Craig Witchgrass’s Bandera home this evening. When they looked into Witchgrass’s yard, they saw him holding a rifle and approaching the cat, apparently checking whether it was dead, according to a police report.

The cat’s owner told police she had previously owned another cat that had gone missing and feared it had also been hurt by suspect Witchgrass.

I see nothing wrong shooting a feral cat, no collar or clipped ear, then fair game. Should be able to see both if they are close.

What about the use of a suppressor? Just trying to understand the law if there is one related to committing a potential crime while using one.

I wish we had a few neiborhors in my neighborhood. Cut down on the late night drives into town for sure.

You might not see anything wrong with yet but the animal lover that saw you do it will report you for the felony that it is. Being feral is meaningless under TX law.
