Looking for a good shooting mat and bipod

I'm looking for a good shooting mat and a bipod that won't break the bank. Our gun Club has a 600 yd rifle range with stations at 300, 400, 500 and 600 but only has 2 benches at 600. Seems every time I'm out there, the ground is wet so a mat is a must. Just had son #2 and the wife has been off work for 2 months so money is an object right now, but I don't want junk either. Anybody have any suggestions? This will be going on a custom savage model 12 Target in 6.5x284.

I've got a Harris bipod I really like. I don't shoot long range with it though. Can't you get a piece of carpet for a mat? All weather or something?

A good bit of the pros shoot a Harris style bipod. I have had no issues with Caldwell. I have a cheap vism mat that works. Midway has there branded ones that are cheap as well.

I've got both Harris and a UTG that came on a rifle I bought. I like both of them, but the Harris to me is better.

As for mats... I can make up my mind which one of these I want...

For open sight prone shooting shooters like the non-skid rubberized coating on mat. This one is for when your wearing a shooting jacket w non-skid elbow pads.

Hit your local carpet store for a piece of scrap for a shooting mat. Likely can get it for free.

The shooting mats from Midway are a good bargain and they come on sale frequently. I like the fact that they have loops sewn in for your bipod feet that help you to load your bipod. If it's really muddy, get a cheap carpet remnant or even a cheap tarp. If you're keeping the bipod and gun on the mat, your feet (and sometimes) knees are off the mat. Just FYI. It'll help keep your pants dry. Your kid and your wife prolly won't need it.

Harris bipod will work and people have posted. I recently switched to Rugged Ridge and I like it way better than my Harris. Of course, it's not cheap at all. Lol. It feels more rigid but the biggest plus for me is the ability to shoot prone and, then, add on CF leg extensions and go to shooting from a sitting position. No more changing bipods between the range and going calling or hunting.

As far as the shooting mat goes, get the heaviest and widest one you can afford. Aint nothing worse than the wind flipping up the edge of your mat and those little narrow mats do not accommodate various platforms. Elbow pads are your friend too. Always have two mats with you in case one gets wet or someone needs to borrow.
I would refrain from carpet, there is no cushion. Grass burs will love you too.
