I have a rock island 1911 in 10mm and love it. However, if you plan on shooting it much get into reloading. If you really plan on using it for hunting, I'd go this route. It has a fully supported chamber so it won't kaboom/bulge brass.

Oh you're not going to build it cheaper for sure. By the time you buy the frame, have it reduced and stippled, buy the slide and have it cerakoted, buy the barrel, sights and parts to put it all together, plus the milling for the sight,etc you will have double what you could buy one for tied up in it. Of course it is exactly like I want it.
But for a factory gun, the Glock 40
Is hard to beat for the price.
