any idea how long you have to renew your license after it expires?
From everything I've read, you have one year after expiration. That being said, during the period between it expiring and you getting your new license, you cannot legally carry.
Nice! I was waiting for this. Time to schedule my CC course for September!
The class is good for 2 years so if you decide to do it before September, you will be good to file on September 1. Just realize, there will probably be a huge rush on both classes and submitting paperwork which will probably extend processing time!
HB-1911 has been sent to calendars so hopefully it will make it through. I'm not betting on it though. Maybe this is the reason HB 375 died in committee

So I took the class last April and just never got around to applying. Does that mean I have until next April to actually file the paper work??

From what I understand, yes, the CHL-100 is good for 2 years. Just make sure you send it in well before the deadline. I haven't been able to find this info on an official Web page, but according to several forums (including the Texas CHL forum), everyone says 2 years.
So along with lowering the cost, they also approved taking the class online, with 1 hour of firing range qualification? That makes it more interesting. How much will ranges charge for just qualification?

Where did you see that? I haven't had a chance to read all the way through it, but that's the first I've heard of that! That would be great!
