    7.3 Powertroke issues....

    97 PSD 7.3

Symptoms- randomly idles up and down no matter what gear the auto trans is in. Newly (8 months) rebuilt trans goes into limp mode but once cooled drives normal.

    Codes are:
    PO221 - Throttle/Pedal position sensor
P0198 - engine oil temp sensor high
P0114 - IAT Circuit high output
P0344 - Cam position sensor intermittent

    Where should I start?

No idea why this showed up in TOSR. Meant for ATCF....

Start with the cam position sensor. They go out all the time and about a $40-70 part and supper easy to change for the common man. Beyond that, no clue.

I had to change mine about every 70k miles.

Forget that!! I'll never trade my 7.3 for anything "newer" with all the sensor problems and DEF fluid requitements.

Yeah... That stinking $11.00 you have to spend every 4,000 miles for def fluid is terrible...
And who wants an extra 165 h.p.?

Another thing to go wrong that can and will leave you in a bind. No thank you.

^^^ I must be missing your point. Nobody likes paying for repairs.

Me either but my son is, and for that matter I would rather have his truck for a daily driver than my 15' 6.7....

Apparently you have nothing of value to add here do .....bye!

I am not paying for repairs, but I am loving the night and day difference in power that I have over the truck I owned 20 years ago...

7.3's are like training wheels. They offer a false sense of comfort and until you take them off you will never understand your full potential.

I sold my 6.7 Cummins, drove my dads 7.3 99 F-250 from Beaumont to Baton Rouge and was supposed to keep it for a month while he was working in Russia. I drove that truck home and bought a 2017 F-250 two days later[emoji23]. I couldn't hear myself think in that thing and the creature comforts in a new truck is worth it alone if you can afford it.

                          Well buy you one.
I have owned 3 7.3s, there is no way I would go backwards.
