    Red dot back up sights.

How do yal run your red dot sights on your guns with scopes. I have target knobs and having issues with 45 degree mounts.

I do things a little different. Thought about trying to rig my bushmaster w 22" barrel and a 4.5-16x50 with turrets for a red dot and realized that it being so long plus a bull barrel to the gas block was just to heavy to be carrying for close range. I opted to use my sidearm when I have my rifle with turrets.
However I do have a light weight AR with a vortex venom on top for getting close on pigs at night.

Are you trying to mount the dot on your scope or the rifle? They make a 45 degree picatinny mount that will mount on the top rail of a rifle and allow you to mout the red dot along side the gun. I may even have a set of them somewhere. Shoot me a PM and I can look for them if ya want me to.

I tried mounting one at 45 dregrees on the rail. But most of it is blocked by the turrets of the scope. Trying to mount it close so it's protected.

Forgive my ignorance, but whats the point of backup red dot sight on a scoped gun? Just for super close range animals?

I would think a scope had way less chance of failure than a red dot, so how is a red dot a back up sight?

I guess maybe backup sight is not the only use. But I run a 3-15 scope and there could be times that I need a sight for close quick work. I have zero worry about my optic failing.

Is it physically interfering with the scope or visually? You could mount it further down the top rail. Not ideal from a stability/ repeatability standpoint, but better than nothing. Assuming this is an AR variant. You can also get a tube mount pic rail meant for a flashlight and mount it to the scope itself if you are using a micro type dot.
