    Brass annealing service?

Anyone use one of the services that anneal you brass and offer additional services like stainless steel media tumbling, decapping, etc?

I'm seriously considering buying a AMP Annealer and I thought I might get into annealing brass for others to help pay off the machine. I'm just not sure how much interest there is this type of service from reloaders? I don't believe there a better annealer on the market or one that can provide more consistent results - a huge advantage for precision loaders. Most of the services I've seen use gas annealers like the Giraud that are great for doing large quantities but simply aren't, IMO, as precise as an induction annealer that's been programmed after scientific testing of a particular brand of brass in a particular caliber to match yours. Neck turn your brass by .001-.003? No problem, AMP has tested those altered thicknesses also. Pretty cool stuff.

Anyone use a mail order or drop off annealing service or brass cleaning service?

Can't say I'd use it, but I'd bet there is a small niche group that might.

I know there's a member over on Snipershide that does brass annealing for sniperhide members. Might take a look at his thread and fees.

      That's the link for ya.

I thought of doing that exact same thing as I want an amp annealer but the grand price tag is a little steep. However, my only reservation thus far is the liability of working someone else's brass. I know the amp is supposed to be dead on but in case something would happen and a neck would split, case body crack, who knows. Since you'll never know exactly how the brass was handled before it gets to you makes me a little nervous as well.

Yeah, that's a good point. Hrmmm

I've pretty well talked myself into getting one regardless. Just thought it'd be cool to offset the cost and let some others share in it's "awesomeness" (LOL!) but maybe I'll just keep it all to my lonesome. Lol.

I'm kinda in the same boat as well as I think I'll just get one regardless. I figure I'll just buy Rich & Rare for a year instead of Crown

In today's world,if you do anything for someone else, you better have insurance to cover you. Some folks will sue anyone for anything.....and win! Gone are the days of handshake deals and just doing the right thing, taking a man's word, and being the right thing to do.

You will love the AMP annealer. I bought mine several months ago and it is easy to use and you don't have to worry about using open flames inside.

You can build your own annealer if your handy.

Yeah but I'm wanting to get away from gas and go to the precision and ultimate repeatability/consistency of induction annealing. The AMP Annealer is the most precise annealing system out there and you can even have your brass analyzed to verify the specific results you're getting and have custom programs designed to achieve specific results. It's more than a lot of people need but if you're obsessed with tiny groups it's one more way to control your brass; besides assuring that the brass is PERFECTLY annealed.

Yeah, I'm looking forward to it. And to annealing with each reloading! Did you hear that they're releasing a auto feeder in June or July? It'll be $299 per Alex Findlay.

                          I'm torn.
Ive seriously considered the AMP. I think it's the most consistent one on the market but I can buy a LOT of new Lapua brass for what it costs. Plus all the caliber specific inserts would add up quick.

Yeah, it's expensive. No doubt. And those inserts aren't cheap. Fortunately, I can get away with 3-4, to start, and that'll cover 90% of what I'm precision loading for.

I'm hoping that some of my buddies here locally, will either throw me some money to use it or pay me a little to do their brass. I'd like to co-op it. That's why I thought about offering a service. But I dunno about all the legalities and I'm not really interested in starting a business doing it. I simply want one for myself and I'm trying to find a way to knock off some of the cost.
