Which Headstamps do you have the most of? Which Oddballs?

I load for several different cartridges. I have some favorite brass for some, and other cartridges I've reloaded what I can easily buy or that I have used for a long time in factory ammo before I started reloading.

I was sorting brass tonight, and started thinking... "What headstamps (overall) do I use the most, and which ones do I end up with the most after a range day?" Are my favorite rifle and pistol headstamp brass counts different?

I keep a good inventory sheet, so it was easy to tally up the totals. This is what I ended up with:

    Rifle:

    1) I've shot a lot of Federal and Lake City .223 / 5.56, as well as GMM .308, so after checking my inventory, I verified that yep... FC (Federal) was what I had the most.
    2) RP (Remington) followed fairly close behind FC
    3) Was actually almost a tie between WIN (Winchester) and LC (Lake City)

Oddballs in rifle that I didn't expect to see in my range pick-up (picking up my own brass... these got mixed in):

    Geco
    Perfecta
    Frontier
    HRTRS

    Pistol:

    1) RP by a large margin
    2) WIN was barely over half of what I have in RP
    3) FC was less than half of what I had in WIN

    Oddballs in pistol brass:

    Geco
    HRTRS
    Perfecta
    A USA
    POBJEDA
    RWS
    DRT
    A-MERC
    ZVS
    ICC
    KFA
    AMMOLOAD
    JAG

How about you? What do you use the most, and have you picked up any oddball headstamps while at the range?

    All the best,
    Glenn

Interesting. Never heard of many of those. I only pick up my own as I have never been to a public range before. Benefit of not living in a city, I guess

For my 223 I have tons of LC, for the 308 about 5k pieces of hornady match

Star Line. Mainly for 45 Colt, 45-70 and 38-55

I got some Winchester, Remington and Federal.

When I first started reloading I had lots of different brands. I knew that I would get better accuracy if I only used 1 brand.

I then started reloading for the wife's 243 and got a wild hair to try some Lapua brass. I couldn't believe the difference in accuracy.
I then bought a 6.5 CM and tried Hornady brass exclusively and get great accuracy.
So, I now only use those 2 brands. I'm sure there are lots of other brands that would give me the same results but I'm not interested in experimenting.

Edit: I do have 1k of Lake City 5.56 that I also use.

Which Headstamps do you have the most of? Which Oddballs?

My father started shooting bullseye pistol in the late 1970's. He always bought federal gold metal match ammo in 38 spcl and 45acp. He acquired a lot of reloading components and equipment over the years but never reloaded...just kept buying ammo.
Anyways he has kept every single piece of brass over the years. 200 rounds per match, 2-4 matches a month adds up to a lot of brass. He's in his 70's and still actively competes and still buys ammo.
About five years ago he gave me all the brass, untold amount of powder, primers and projectiles. I have enough to last me a few years

So I would say federal is the most I have.
I buy starline for other pistol loads.
            Lapua for most my rifles.
I have some hornady in .204
            Winchester for a couple others.

I like to buy all the brass at once for a particular rifle and keep it married to it.
Except .223/556 I mix it up. Mainly lake city though.

I have no idea, and no interest in looking at them all. I shoot 100% range brass.

I use winchester exclusively for all my calibers. May go to lapua someday, but definitely don't mix headstamp for my rifles
