    damage inside rifle bore question

Anyone ever experience a rifle with damage inside bore?

Long story short, bought rifle NEW in 2-15. Just got around to shooting it at the range last week. Accuracy was so/so but i didnt think much of it since I wasnt even trying, was windy, also had a cough so breathing sucked, eyes watery ect.

Get around to cleaning it today and ran the boresnake through it and noticed this. Ran is again to make sure it wasnt a hair or obstruction or anything like that. Rifle has 100 or so rounds through it. Whatcha yall think?

I would notify the manufacturer. They may be willing to fix it.

Kinda hard to tell in the picture is it a crack/fissure or is it a burr hanging in there

Looks more like a crack or something to me. Its really hard to take a good pic of inside a barrel. Dont want to blast the company just yet, waiting to see how they handle it. Only match grade ammo was ran through it.

From what i looked at its a crappy gas port job i think. I looked at my colt Ar and it looks nothinh like that.

Don't shoot it until you get it inspected. My first reaction was the same as others: that's a crack or fissure. Even if it's just a burr, that's bad, but that's not likely to lead to a catastrophic failure.

A gasport burr should not be running perpendicular to the axis. It should be local to the hole area (small) and may look elongated or stained parallel to the axis as the bullets will deform it in that direction.

If it is just a bad crown issue, an easy fix, but looks to me like their QC inspector just missed this one.

Yes after getting it inspected by a gunsmith he said it's a tool mark that removed a small piece from the crown and left a small bur on the rifling. It's a tikka t3x tac 24". I called them and they have great customer service. And are taking care of it.
