    Win. model 70 .243 - bolt won't close

Here's the story. I have an early 70s model 70 in .243 that I am attempting to reload rounds for. I shot a half a box of factory rounds through the gun this year, then full length resized 10 cases (not comfortable neck sizing yet in my reloading career!). After I full length resized, I took one of the resized cases and pushed it into the chamber, then gently tried to close the bolt. It wouldn't close easily so I quit doing it and pulled the case out (didn't force it hard at all). Then I went to load a factory round to test the difference and it was a little harder to close than I remembered. I did get it closed, then ejected the shell to find what I feel like is a very small mark on the shoulder of the case. Could I have somehow deformed my chamber by putting the resized case in there (even though I didn't jam it closed)? I'm just making sure I'm not overreacting, I really don't want to screw this gun up!! Let me know your thoughts, thanks!

Surely the chamber steel is much harder than the brass I pushed up in there right?

Need to bump the shoulder back on the reloads.

        Didn't hurt the chamber

Check your chamber for debris. Spider might have crawled in it or something.
          Rewipe and clean chamber.

Then I would check your sizing die to make sure it is adjusted properly.

Or check your case length after resizing. Sounds like you may have something in your chamber though.

I had this issue once when I had my sizing die too low. It bumped out the shoulder enough to not let the bolt close. I backed it off and there was no issue with any of the remaining rounds.

Did you trim your brass?Neck sizing is where I get my best accuracy. Hornady makes neck dies that work great and usually can get away without having to trim the brass every time you reload.
