I came across this rifle back in late summer last year. the stock needed work and the bore on the factory barrel was in bad shape. I had a Remington factory 700 barrel cut to 20" recrowned and screwed in. then I replaced the triggerguard, polished the bolt up, adjusted the trigger (has had the recall), refinished the stock with a tung oil finish and glass bedded the action. cant wait to go try some handloads out in it.

I have one and have kicked around the idea of re-barreling to a different caliber as well. For some reason, I thought the starting point of the threads on a 700 vs the 600 were 180degrees off and would cause the information (manufacture / caliber) to be 180 degrees off as well.
Is that true?
Did the 600 have a different recoil lug than the 700?
