    Remington 721 recoil pad

I just got my hands on a 721 and it shoots great and is in excellent shape. Except for the recoil pad which has fossilized into solid rock over the last 50 plus years. Yes, I know a slip on is an option but I would love to get my hands on an original. The interwebs is turning up nothing. Any of y'all have a line on where such things can be acquired? And thanks.

And another question. Y'all know if a 721 LA will fit in a modern 700 stock? I figure this is an option to keep the integrity of the original stock for prosperity purposes.

I don't believe Remington put recoil pads on the back then.

I never really thought about that as a possibility. I do believe this is a late model 721 from the 60's. It has a classic red pad with the large checkering on the sides on it now.

Looks like a grind to fit is the only answer.

Look up recoil pads at Midway USA they go anywhere from 8.99-54.99

A 721 will fit in a 700 stock IF you open it up.
On the barrel there is a hump where the rear sight dovetailed into it.
Gotta get out the dremel and remove a little material.
Other than that it will drop right in.

I think bottoms metal is slightly different if I remember right 700 BDL is larger so you might have a slight gap
