    Hydro dip question

I'm looking at trading for a duck gun.. It's got some surface rust that I was gonna hit with some oil and steel wool. It's an all black gun, so I started thinking about putting some camo on it. My question is this.. Would I be better off having it dipped? Would that be a better way to seal it and prevent rust? Granted, this all hinges on it being blasted before it's dipped..

Also, ballpark, what am I looking at to get a beretta 3901 blasted and dipped?

    Hydro dipped gun ?

As long as you have it blasted to remove the rust then a coat of primer then base coat of automotive grade paint then the dip. Finally it would get a coat of a 2K clear which is also automotive grade, it will be sealed from further corrosion unless it gets chipped. You are probably looking at anywhere from $120 to $200 for doing the whole gun.

Or you can order a DIY Dip kit and do it yourself for less than 100 bucks. Its all in the prep work.

I've seen those.. I just don't trust myself to not screw it up. Lol. That, and I don't have a way to blast it

I hear ya, I am going to order some for one of my shotguns to try out. Will try it on something sacrificial first to get the hang of it. Don't know if I am going to do the barrel or not, probably just have my buddy cerakote the barrel for me and dip the plastics.

Yeah, that's what I'd prefer. This will be my only duck gun tho, so sacrificial isn't in its name. Lol

I'd have a pretty hard time spending 1-200 to protect a $500 shotgun (that's synthetic to begin with). Get the rust off and get out the spray can. Unless you're set on it looking pretty

                This!
Clean it up & sand any rust. Primer it ,then paint black or camo.

No, not set on anything. Just trying to seal it up, prevent rust best I can, and add a little color to it to break up the all black look
