    .38 Firing Pin Question

I just bought a 38 a couple of days ago and was just now noticing that when you pull the hammer back into single action and pull the trigger, if you barely touch it the hammer comes up but looking in there the firing pin does not engage. Now if you pull it back hard in single action it will. Double action seems fine, the firing pin comes out. I have another almost identical 38 that when you barely touch the trigger in s/a the hammer comes up and the pin comes out. Any idea to the cause of this? I have yet to be able to shoot the gun but from what it looks like it will not fire in s/a unless you pull hard. Thanks for any insight.

Since you haven't fired it yet there may not even be a problem. I'd take it to the range and shoot it, both s/a and d/a. If it doesn't perform like it should call Taurus customer service.

There may not but I can watch inside and physically see the pin come out in d/a but not s/a on this one and one the one I have already it comes out with both da and sa. Gonna try to get out and shoot soon to see. I think he mentioned there was a trigger job done the more I think about it but can't remember for sure. I looked earlier to see how to send it to Taurus but was a little confused. Will probably give them a call soon.
