    Trying to improve AR accuracy

Only thing I have done is add a lighter trigger spring and put MI 15" forearm which floated the barrel. Accuracy is around 1-2" depending on the shooter. I have seen were some peoples rifles shoot way better than that. My thoughts are maybe a new trigger and a better quality barrel but I am unsure of which ones.

Base gun is ARF-15 lower and upper. Barrel is 1/9. I've shot 64gr win factory loads, R.E.M. Umc 55gr loads, handloads 50gr vmax and blitz king handloads with w748 and h335. The accuracy in my gun is acceptable but I'm used to my bolt action rifle's which routinely shoot 1/2-3/4". I just use it for pigs and predators.

That bbl may just be a 2-3moa tube amigo...sometimes you just get stuck.

I figured it wasn't high quality anyway. looking for a better quality barrel that will fit my setup. not wanting to have to change forearms for a heavy barrel.

I'd probably grab an arp. Mine was dumb accurate for a $180 barrel.

If you want to match your current set up make sure to get the same length gas system on whatever barrel you buy.

X2 on ARP , poking around on his website the other day I noticed he is soon to be selling 3r barrels supposedly outperforming 5r's .
One of his 5rs would most likely be a huge improvement over a factory barrel.

My self, Id go mid or rifle length and buy stuff to match it- gas tube and correct length hanguard.

Upgrade to mid length if you are not. It's worth the $12 gas tube.

I have put together a boat load of AR's. Some have shot great, some just shot. I have 2 right now of my own. One has a high-dollar stainless bull barrel attached to some other nice goodies. It will shoot 1 in groups all day long. The other was built as light and cheap as I could build it. I think the no name barrel cost all of $75 from gunbroker. It shoots well or better than the supposed good one. It bugs me that a $400 AR can run with a $1100 AR, or maybe even beat it.

I threw a 20" Armalite 223 Wylde bull barrel on an AR with a free float rail and a 3# CMC trigger. That thing is sub moa all day.

I worked up a hunting load for hogs and deer using 70 grain tsx bullets in front of Tac. 5 shot dime sized groups forever.

I would say new trigger and experiment with bullets to see what you gun likes. However, with that 1:9 twist you might find it hard to stabilize and get accurate shots with heavier bullets. I'd stick with 60 grainers or less.

Barnes makes a 55 grain vortex that seems to be accurate and a hella good hunting round.
