I personally hate shooting off a lead sled. I shoot way better off of bipod and a bag.
Agreed, and I do even better off front and rear bags. I can never seem to get my bipods to grip the bench, so loading them up is impossible, then they hop around under recoil. Don't have that problem prone on the ground though.
I got out to the range today. The major change was the bedding screws are now at factory torque, they were not tight enough before.
I had cleaned the barrel with metal cleaner after shooting the last time. Tie first 3 shots were all over 1 high, 2 left- maybe it was me. I went to the other target for 2, 3 shot groups (with a scope adjustment between them), then came back to target 1 for the last 2 shots.
For a range gun- not impressive, it could be the guy pulling the trigger.
For pigs and deer out to 200 yards- I think it's ready.
Help!- confused by my target from the range today.
I upgraded to a Votex Viper 6.5-20 and got it set up in the flats in Montana. After adjusting the scope and working on breathing, my last 3 shots at 200 yards were in the orange.
The target's out by the pine trees.
I can visualize elk there. And griz, too. The 2 guys who got mauled out there used bear spray instead of a 454 Casul.

$20 bipod propped on top of a scope case, and a sand bag under the stock.

Being a bowhunter first, I can't believe I can kill an animal that far away- or further.
