    Hard to find bullets

Does anyone know where I can get .222 mag bullets? The cheapest I've found is genders custom loads for $40 a box. Or at least find brass for it? My dad has one from his grandpa that all of the kids, grandkids, and great grandkids have killed.their first deer with and he is running low on ammo

Ace hardware in Brady had about 10 boxes last week. I see 222 in several places I go.

.222 mag is different than .222 Remington. I'd try midway.

Find someone local that reloads and offer to pay them if you supply the dies and components or, sounds like a great reason to start reloading. It's really not that hard.

My uncle has one and the only spot I've seen it is Midway. And that $40 a box you speak of is a helluva deal!

Learn something everyday. I bet that is a great round. I'm going to have to look that up.

Fairly sure he's looking for loaded rounds as he wrote "genders custom loads for $40 a box". I just assumed when he wrote "bullets", but mentioned "custom loads" that he was actually looking for loaded ammo. He also mentioned brass, so I'm assuming he reloads or knows someone to reload for him as well.
                All the best,
                Glenn

                  confusion

They use same Bullets 222 and 222 mag and 223 ...Just diff cases....and powder load...I think I would take up reloading before I gave $40. a box of loaded shells..Esp if you already have Brass

Just did quick check...If you got your own brass These are rough numbers but in ball park..IMR 4895 pretty popular in 222mag $30 a pound ..at 25grains thats 280 rounds per pound..Hornady 55grain bullets about $15. per 100...Primers about $5.00 per 100...

                    $30.00 powder
                    $45.00 bullets
                    $15.00 primers
= $90.00 total for 280 loaded shells 14boxes of 20 +about $6.43 a box (and you still got 20 bullets and 20 primers left over)

Back in the late 60s,my next door neighbor,an avid reloader, bought a Sako in 222mag. He had a world of trouble finding a load that would group well. I don't remember what he ended up using, but it wasn't with the usual IMR powders. Just a heads up for those considering purchasing one.
