    New pistol help...

Not really help just looking for some advice to settle a argument. I own a newer pistol and my buddy just bought a brand new one. He told me that after 20-50 rounds they are considered broke in and if needed to start moving sights. I was always taught at least 150-200 round through it before adjusting anything.

    Advice?

I was told the same thing by my gun smith, and 500 rounds till he would do a trigger job

Yea, I've always gone by the 500 round "rule".

I was always taught the 150-200 round rule as a test for reliability. Personally, I move the sights as needed after the first few shots if they aren't hitting the target for me.

        Regards,

        Dave

That totally depends on the weapon.

Some guns require 300-500 rounds to break in. Some don't.

I have never had to move a set of sights on a new pistol.

500 rounds for action work. If shooting iron sights point of impact shouldn't change that much during break in period.

One of my kimbers needed a slight sight adjustment. Or it corrected my "slice" I don't know which.... This was after a couple hundred rounds.

sites can be moved after just a couple dozen rounds,,, i agree with any action work requiring a good bit more rounds down range..
