ATN or Sightmark photon?

I'm looking for the most info I can. I'm also reading reviews online and waiting to talk to legacy outfitters and chew the fat with him.

So my question is. Has anyone here had the chance to use both or either of these and which would you prefer and why.

I'm new to night scope technology. And these are in my budget.

Not sure about the ATN but the photon works great. For the price it can't be beat.

I have both in first gen. And both have pros and cons, or trade offs. Just depends on what kind of criteria you have in mind. Only thing about the two I have is the factory IR dose not have very good output if you plan to shoot past 100 yards. That might have changed now with the newer updated models, I don't know. But the distance you can see is very good if you have ambient light from the moon and/or auxiliary IR light.

And Jason is a great feller to work with. His shipping is very quick too.

Thank y'all. I'm looking for something that will work from 25-200 yards. Open country. AG fields and some close brush hunting pigs over feeders.

Both will fill those requirements without a problem. But may need some type of auxiliary IR light to get to 200 yards. The one on the Photon is built in and could be used at shorter distances. But you will still need another to get to 200. The one on the ATN is a separate piece. But again, you will still need another to get to 200.

Both scopes can see well past 200 if you get the right IR auxiliary light. I believe Jason has some available too. Or get one from Sniper Hog Lights on here. Check out both of their web sights for what you want. PM either for questions on the IR lights.

The new ATN X-Sight HD 5X20 now come with a Decent IR light that is equivalent to our 38LRX light in IR but there are also new ATN X-Sights HD 5X20 that don't have the New IR light so you better ask whoever you buy it from to find out if it has the new IR light. You will get out to 300-400 yards with the new IR light. We still sell a lot of our 38LRX lights though to customers who buy the ATN X-Sight HD 5X20 because ours uses rechargeable batteries and the ATN IR light uses 2 CR123A batteries so if you scan a lot you will be buying batteries all the time and CR123A batteries can get spendy.

I have a ATN X sight II HD 5 x 20 works great and easy to use. really liked the "one shot" zero feature. Only thing I plan on doing is upgrading the ir light. Went with Outdoor Legacy, great guy and very easy to deal with.

I had a chance to speak with Jason this evening. A great guy. Super nice!! Never pushed anything. Just gave me the pros and cons of what I was looking for. I have a feeling ill.be doing business with him.
I'm leaning towards the x sight.

I've used both quite a bit and I'll do my best to give you the pros/cons of each. I would recommend an external IR on either of these models.

Photon XT:
slightly better night time image in my opinion, no flickering
looks more like a scope
lighter in weight
black and white daytime image leaves something to be desired, but still usable
fixed magnification
requires scope bases

X-sight
tons of bells and whistles (too many really), ballistics calculator, on board recording/camera, range finder, wifi, etc
more compact
good color daytime image
variable DIGITAL zoom (the more you zoom the more the picture is distorted)
flickering when using night mode
black/green night mode or black/white night mode
metal housing
built in scope base

The Gen I x-sights had lots of problems, the gen II however have just about everything fixed. At this time I feel the X-sight is a more versatile scope and comes in cheaper than the Photon if you factor in the scope mount and on board recording.
