    45 ACP Primers

So I bought 1k pieces of once fired brass, mixed headstamps, a while back. Got an ultrasonic cleaner for Christmas so I'm finally going thru them all and getting ready to load. I was looking last night and the Blazer brass has what looks to me like a small primer instead of the large primers..? It's not a subtle difference, it's obvious they're significantly smaller than the other primers. Anybody run across this before? How do I go about loading them..? Bore the pocket open to accept a large primer with a decrimping tool? Can I run a small primer and be ok?

Cheaper brands tend to have small primers. It's very aggravating, but you can't change a small primer pocket to a large one. As far as performance, I don't think it really matters large or small.

It doesnt matter large or small as far as performance. for the amount of powder realistically 45acps should have all small primers. It would make life easier. especially if you have progressive presses.

Since your 2 other high volume rounds 9,40 are SP it would be nice for the 45acp to be as well.

That being said the majority are LP.

I just separate them best i can. Then sell them to somebody that wants them or i ll batch them and load a batch at a time.

Ok, cool. I didn't think it'd make that much difference between the 2. I've only ever shot winchester white box 45 until I started loading. Never saw small primers until yesterday, so I was just making sure I could load them with no issues. Thanks for the help

Several manufacturers are using small primers in 45 nowadays (not just the cheap ones). I actually got some Federal brass, from a box of match ammo that was small primer. It did used to be just cheap brass, now there are several doing it.

I just segregate them, and load them up later, or gift them to someone that is needing some 45 brass.
