I appreciate it, but I went with the HS T.

Got it mounted up last night, it's clear! Hope to get it bore sighted today or tomorrow and put a few rounds through it. One thing I didn't know , could had just not seen it but, the VMR reticle on this model is accurate at 18 power vs the typical full power (24x in this case).

So the reticle is set up to be correct size at 18x rather than 24x?

Another option that has good dialing is SWFA. In your price range and will hold up.

just saw you got the vortex. good deal.

Yeah first I seen it was when I open the manual. I will get you some pics and give a review of it once I spend a day checking it all out. It has a red line that let you know when you are on the sweet spot so they take the guessing out of it. Here is a pic of the box.

Some Vortex models have subtending that are accurate at other than max magnification. It should be indicated on the dial ring with a red mark.

Check out the Bushnell Elite Tactical scopes. Their G2 reticle is great when shooting long distances.

If you're going to use your reticle for holdover instead of dialing the FFP is the better choice. If you plan to dial then save the money and get SFP.

And mirage will prevent you from using max magnification most of the time. Or at least is does on my 5-25 PST

At distance, I dial one click over, and one click down to shoot the corner of the reticle.

The best glass in the world wont make mirage go away. BUT, my main complaint with the PST was how bad the glass sucked over 16-18x. It was pretty worthless most days as it got real fuzzy. Add in any mirage and it was worthless LOL.

My mk6 has a FFP TMR reticle and it doesn't cover up too much of the target. its a 3-18x44. That's all I need to shoot a long long way.

It is funny how people differ with this.....

When target shooting, I shoot 24x at 100 yards (or even 50 yards). Yes, I can see my heartbeat in the image, but I prefer it.

I shoot at max power. But when it's a clearer image on a higher end scope you don't seem to need the power. If that makes sense. That's just my perception on it. With that said, I've shot with several different higher power scopes, NXS, 5.5-22, Steiner T5xi 5-25, vortex gen 2 razor, s&b, kahles, etc. I don't seem to need the higher power on those at distance. 100 yards is a totally different ballgame than 1000+. And lots of folks will say "it's got great class!!" But only look at it at 100 yards....
