    New Vortex Crossfire

My incredible wife got me a Vortex Crossfire 2 in 4x12x44 for Christmas. I'll be using it to replace the Nikon Buckmaster 3x9x50 on my 270. Any info on the Crossfire? Thoughts on making the jump from 3x9x50 to 4x12x44? Very excited to get to the range.

I have the 6-18 x 44 and it is a great scope. You won't be disappointed.

        New Vortex Crossfire

30-30 to answer your question, the Crossfire is the lowest in the Vortex line. It will perform similar to other scopes in the price range.

Regarding 3-9x50 vs 4-12 x44, you will give up some low light performance in the higher magnification range.

Been shooting a cross v-brite for a year or so on my .270. All good until recently. Some glitch with the lighted dot , but accuracy and clarity in the day were great.
That 4-12 should be perfect for longer shots.
Good for you to have such a supportive wife.

In that price range I think the Vortex and Nikon are the best choices. Congrats on the new scope. I'm curious as to how you will like it compared to your Buckmaster.

Am I correct that BDC ballistics only apply at max magnification?

On second focal plane scopes, typically yes. Your owner's manual will tell you.
