I acquired a 7.62X39 upper last week. I placed it on a PSE lower with a CMC 3.5 lb trigger and took it out to site it in. I discovered that approximately 20% of my ammo failed to fire. The strike mark looked good but they didn't fire. I used TulAmmo, Hot Shot and Wolf ammo with all having about the same number of ftf. The upper sited in easily and even I could maintain a 4" group @ 100 yards with a Magpul peep.
I went back today and took my sks which fired every round that failed to fire in the AR. I also took some Red Army, Hornady and Monarch ammo. THe Hornady had zero fail to fire, the Monarch had zero fail to fire but the Red Army had a 10% fail to fire.
All total I fired around 250 rounds with zero feed or eject problems and was very satisfied with the performance of the rifle. It just seems I need to be careful about what ammo to use with my light trigger.

I like the hybrids with the ak mags. Those are made to run. People to build regular ars that run fine. But it takes extras to get it reliable. Bolts firing pins springs and good mags.
Yes the ballistics are very close to the 300blk. But you can use same mags as 5.56 but you can also open yours self up for trouble. Also unless some one starts making steel case 300blk you can buy 3-4 boxes of 7.62x39 to one of the cheapest boxes of 300blk. So yes the 7.62x39 is very much worth looking into if you plan on doing a lot of shooting.
