What's your Opinion on Wolf Ammo?

Never bought any until a couple of weeks ago for my new 6.5 Grendel AR. Bought 500 rounds for practice and "Zombie" invasions, lol!!

Shot 40 rounds, failed to eject half the time. I realize it could be the gas not tight enough, but the range owner where we were shooting (gun smith) gave his opinion at Pidgeon Road in Stephenville? This is the Wolf Military Classic 100grain FMJ only bought two weeks ago.

Alan said this ammo, steel casing, is treated with anti-corrosion for obvious reasons. He said sometimes it's just the coating that prevents ejection, grabbing and the next box may have no problems? I know the controversy that steel does not like steel, but again my first time to shoot this ammo.

He suggested taking some "break free" and lightly "washing" the rounds as no amount of gun oil would make a difference if the coating was too thick??

I'm really not sure what to do....sell the ammo and just shoot Hornady (I'm a fan) from now on? Just got the Hornady in from a shop in Granbury and have not had a chance to shoot so if the same thing, a whole new story. I'm shooting a Radical Arms upper and Anderson lower. I have also had the same combination before with no issues feeding and ejecting but that was a 5.56 shooting Federal and Hornady.

Any thoughts.....here she is with the add on I play with...

Had the same kind of issues. I just stopped buying it. I gave what I had left to a friend.

There is a saying, Do not fear the wolf, the wolf is your friend. Those that fear the wolf, simply do not understand the wolf. I shoot it in 5.56 all the time, maby just that round. Idk.

Wolf and Monarch are about the only brands of ammo that get shot from my 5.56 AR.

The coating on them is also supposed to help the round feed better. If your gun doesn't like them I would say move on, any tinkering may make problems worse.

I haven't tried the 6.5G Wolf but both of my Colt ARs eat the snot out of it in 5.56.

Does the case have a smooth but slick feel to it (meaning it's poly acted cases) or does it look like they are lacquer coated?

I have no issues with new wolf ammo. The old stuff was a issue as you said with the coating. Wolf has since fixed that issue. My AR's love the Wolf ammo.
If I may make a suggestion. If you are going to shoot steel case ammo, get yourself a broken case extractor. If the steel case binds up in the chamber, and the bolt blowing backwards rips the base off the cartridge that leaves you with a stuck case wall in the chamber with no way to remove it...Unless you have a broken case extractor( on right).
I bought one for the AK and the AR. These were extracted from my AKM.

I shot Wolf ammo in my mini 14 when I first bought it about 12 years ago. Never had a problem with it. I have had trouble finding wolf since the big scare a few years back.

                    Good advice and thanks!

I think I'm just going to sell the 460 rounds I have left. I'm not one to go out and just shoot a lot so my main round will be the Hornady. If anyone is interested shoot me a PM and I'll sell them cheap!

Dirty ammo. No way I would shoot Wolf.
