This weekend me and my son got to go back to the Los Jefes Ranch again, and javelina's and does were on the list. Saturday morning we sat in a blind that usually is covered up with javelina's, but instead we saw nothing but nice bucks and a few doe. I was about to give my son the go ahead on a doe and right before he pulled the trigger a lone javi came out of another sender of, he switched windows and dropped him. That evening we brought out the new 6.5 Creedmoor to give it a go, and at 144 yds my son dropped a doe and killed a feeder leg. Sunday morning we got the green light for another doe, and did not see anything until right before we got out we looked down a sendero and there was one doe. My son threw gun up and got on here, I verified it was a slick head and he said he was on her and shot. She didn't kick and after searching for about 30 min I thought he had missed. I decided to walk down further then I thought he had shot and about 80 yds down sendero I saw some fresh tracks of a deer in a hurry, I followed into the brush and about 30 yds in there she laid. After we pulled here out we ranged where the shot was and it was 185 yds, it didn't look that far but the sendero can definitely be missed leading when you are not used to hunting them. It was a great weekend and really enjoyed shooting the new 6.5.
