    Boyds Stock for Savage 11

Ordered a Boyd's stock for my Creedmoor and disappointed to find that the bottom isn't close to being right. I ordered what I thought to be correct....Model 11, bottom bolt release and detachable magazine. The magazine doesn't come close to fitting and it appears to be cut to accept for bottom metal.

Am I missing something or does it go back?

I don't have an answer but I have been considering the EXACT same thing! I called Boyds and they gave me all this run around about what you are talking about?

I'm still going to do it but I've talked to a gunsmith in Tolar TX and will let him order and fit it in. He's charging the same price Boyds does for the stock and only $50 to float it and make sure it all fits. I'm getting the thumb hole light weight but still not sure on the laminate color. Post some pics please and good luck.

If the piece that surrounds the magazine in your old stock is not removable, then it looks like you would need bottom metal.

Unfortunately my advice is to get out the Dremmel. I have two Boyedz in Long and short action. They both needed some grinding and sanding. The good news is they have been very accurate with the lug seated firmly against the recess.

Good luck with Boyds. Their customer service sucks.

The metal piece surrounding the magazine will pop out the bottom of the stock. It's tight, but does come out. Just take the screw out from the front and use something to push it out from the top, then you can push it back in the Boyd's.

hmm, I need to find a gunsmith local willing to do that.

Trying to figure out what Savage I have on Boyd's dropdown list makes me go cross-eyed. Being an accu-stock Cabela's only model doesn't help.

This is exactly what I thought but this article makes me think that it's integrated into the stock:

Hope it works out for you.

I may take it back apart this afternoon, in better light, and see if it will pop out.

Ah it appears you're right. The rifle I did was a 12 fcv. Didn't realize they had so many styles!
