Here is a 1 1/2" target paster shot at 30,40,50,60,and 70 yards respectively.

Some will disagree with using SS's but my rifle shoots pretty dang good with sub sonics, I have all the confidence in the world with it and my abilities. YMMV

Here is a 100 yard group.
I get the same results shooting subs with my 300 BO, no issue dropping hogs or whatever I aim at.

Hunting with subsonics. Effective range, shot placement?

My experience with body shots on deer and pigs has been dismal. Out of 6 animals, I've recovered 1.

I've tried 220 SMK, 208 AMAX, 187 Gemtech, 200 Lehigh ME (twice) and 220 grain Noveske round nose. The SMK, AMAX and Gemtech apparently zipped through with no expansion. Only found a couple of small blood drops with them. I found ok blood with the Lehighs but my guess is they didn't pass through. It was like tracking a bad shot on a bow shot deer.

The only one that I have recovered is this guy.

He is the one I shot with the Noveske subs. I shot him square in the shoulder on the close side, exited in the arm pit on the far size with about a quarter size hole.

Reacted exactly like he was hit with a broad head. He ran about 40 yards, stopped, turned around looking around trying to figure out what happened, got the jelly legs and fell over. Completely took out the heart.

All of these shots were at bow ranges (30 yards and in).

      It's my least preferred method.

If you want silent and slow just use a bow . . .

We have been using 300 BO SBR with a can to fill MLD tags with very good success shooting the Rem 220 gr OTM just tuck it tight behind the shoulder

when hunting with subs just use the same shot placement when you are bowhunting.

I'm anxious to try the bullet/round combo out for myself. I've got my 300BO dialed in out to 100yds and wanting to see how that HP bullet performs on hogs and deer.

I'm about to pull the trigger on a 300 blackout upper and am anxiously awaiting my stamp for form 1 suppressor. Wanting to be able to do subsonic suppressed under 50 yards for MLD tags and hogs.

the otm's preform more like fmj's but holes thru both lungs work great, not big holes but holes none the less
most deer don't really go anywhere, run 20-30 yards wondering what happened, then fall over dead
