    Shooting apps

What are y'all running..? I just got my 1st "long range" rifle and I'm trying to step into the distance game. I'll be shooting hand loads once I get the recipe figured out. It'll be for a 308 AR10 if the platform matters more than the caliber

I use Isnipe, I really like it but I've never used anything else.

      Ballistic AE on my iPhone.

The closer your inputs are the more "accurate" the results are going to be.

Velocity being a big factor. Most any of the aps are going to get you close. Lot's of variables to work with.

KAC bulletflight L2. As has been said, they are only as accurate as the info you feed it. Including the ACTUAL BC.

              ISnipe.

Verified drops on 4 calibers this weekend and was spot on. You will need a chronograph for it to be accurate though. You have to know your actual velocities, not what it says on the box.

I use Shooter, I don't know about it being the best, but it was the best when I started using it a few years ago, and I can't Imagine it being any better, or more user friendly. Maybe something new has come out, but I'm satisfied.

I use Applied Ballistics by Bryan Litz. If you feel like giving it the data, it will account for environmental effects, spin drift, coriolis effect, etc and has a TON of common bullet data pre-loaded, to include verified BC numbers that Litz tested himself, since you can't always trust the advertised BC. You can even purchase "custom drag curves" to give an exact BC figure for your bullet, instead of an approximation, which is what the G1 and G7 BC's actually are. BTW, use the G7, it's much closer to the true figures than G1.

The downside, the app ain't cheap, 30 bucks, but it's easy to use.

                      I thought the G7's were Litz's BC #'s. No?

Also, w/out having a chrono, can't you hit a target @ different ranges then having those numbers, alter the FPS in the program until it matches your bonified hits & then that'll give you your FPS?

G7 is a standard, though I'm not sure who developed it, you can't use G7 numbers with a G1 program and expect accurate results. Basically, the BC numbers, in either model, compare your bullet to a "standard" or "model" bullet. The G1 model bullet is a conical nose, flat base bullet that looks and preforms nothing like modern long range bullets. The G7 model bullet is based on a long pointed nose, boat tail bullet like a VLD or SMK, so the BC modifies a drag curve that is closer to being accurate from the beginning. Clear as mud?

Yes, applied ballistics (and some other programs) does allow you to do trajectory validation where it modifies your velocity based upon observed drop. The only problem there is that you really have to be correct with all other inputs.

also running the TRASOL app which was highly recommended by my friend who lives out West
