    High shoulder shots and .260

Nothing ground breaking here. Just bored. 'High shoulder' comes up semi often here and thought this was a good example of where that is to me. I try not to completely destroy them (though on a big buck you might want to). Almost all the meat is good here, still have some margin for error and she never even twitched. And finally got to put the .260 on a deer. 120 nbt's put a nasty hole in her. Liking this little gun.

It's in his post, 120 grain nosler ballistic tip. I shot them in my 260, very accurate and deadly.

Never really understood body shooting does. Granted my does never give a body shot as they are all stacked on top of each other so a body shot is almost never possible.

I just pop them in the head.......no meat loss.

If I'm shooting a rifle at a doe it's because I'm messing with a new round or bullet. Not a lot to be gleaned from a head shot.

Loving the results from that NBT...about to test some 150gr in the .308 my 12yr old son shoots.

That didn't hit the spine? Surely the hydrostatic shock severed the spinal cord and contributed to the DRT kill. I got the same type kills with my .270 in Federal Premium 130 grain NBT. Like they were struck by lightning and DRT. The .260 intrigues me......

A good clean kill is always good no matter where the shot is placed. However, my peesonal opinion is deer have a neck for a reason. Its the bullseye.

Never really understood head shooting does. I just don't get the rationale or fascination. Meat loss on shoulder shots are minimal. There ain't that much quality meat on the shoulders anyway.

Agreed. A behind-the-shoulder lung shot is a guaranteed kill, just like a head shot, and your target is twice the size at least.

I didn't know a nbt would kill a deer. It should have "blown up" on the hide.
