    SWFA scopes

Everything I read about them is great. Thinking about selling my leupold I'm about to put on my new rifle. I'm getting a Remington 700 tactical to shoot long range. I think the turrets on the swfa would suet me better than the leupold. The leupold is a 4.5-14x40. I'm kind of unsure about the fixed power of the swfa. I'm looking at the 16x42 or the 20x42. Which would would be better? What do y'all thing about swfa, for the price it almost seems too good to be true.

I have the 10x42 (non HD) and the quality of the glass is on par with Leupold. Movement of the dials is not as good as Nightforce but still **** good.

10x42 HD is awesome. I wouldn't get any higher especially for shots under 500 yards. I don't know what your definition of long distance is but a 1x zoom pers 100 yards is plenty. Finding a target (especially moving target) under 300 yards with a 10x zoom can be challenging I couldn't imagine what it would be like with a 16x or 20x zoom.

I ont know about them much other than they are somewhat cheaper than most main steam brands.i am taking a chance on a couple I bought on Black Friday. They are no frills for sure. Come in a plain white box in a plastic bag. That's it no instructions, warrantee card ...nothing.

I have 2 of the fixed 10x and 2 of the 3-15. All get shot 1000+ yards. Personally I would not go over 10x on a fixed power, especially if you ever plan to use it on game. To me the 16x and 20x would have pretty narrow application, like F-class.

                  I have a fixed 6x and a 10x. Both have been fantastic.

The 6x is on my 300BLK, and gets banged around on a regular basis (it is my truck gun, and winds up in the buggy and quad). It is perfect.

The 10x is on my daughters rifle, and it works like a champ.

I would not hesitate to buy another, and plan to again soon.

I have 2 - 10x, 1 - 12x, and 1 20x. I am a fan of the SWFA scopes for the money BUT, I would gladly sell you my 20x. It is good glass but it picks up to much mirage even on cool days. Often times I can see the target moving slightly due to the mirage. just my 2 cents. I am considering the 16x to see how it looks.

                      Swfa

Not the expert and swfa but going on 3 years and 8-10 scopes. Buddy has a 20x on the 50bmg that works great. Had a fixed 16 on a long range 243 paper and hunting. Way to much power for field use. It would however go ok on a 338L or something that it's 90% paper or steel and just long range hunting. Have hunted with a 12x but it's max for field use. The 10 would work if needed. Love the 3-15's great scope for paper steel and hunting and long range. The 3-15FFP fits this role well. The 3-15 SFP do to heck of a price fits the role very well know distance application or closer range well there is no need for hold overs or estemsted holdover work. So most hunting and AR applications. HD glass beats Bushnell DMR and Burris XTRii. The classics beat the Burris glass. Friend swore his 5-20hd was on par or better than his NXS. Only down fall the SWFA is no zero stop. But there are 3 fixes for the Non HD's that can be found on YouTube. Only thing I own is Burris/Pentax and SWFA. And as time and money comes around it will be all SWFA 3-15.

MOA/Mil quad? If you ever need to range then go milquad. If not moaquad has a lot of holdover possibilities.

They track real well. The clicks just soften up over the years more that some others.....which honestly is both good and bad.

The Mil clicks are much better than the MOA clicks IMO. Much more positive feeling, though I can't really tell any difference in the actual tracking. And like said, the 3-15 FFP is pretty much perfect for me.

In the last 3 years since I have been shooting SWFA, I have only ever heard of 1 problem related to proper functioning on one. My Mil scopes have tracked perfectly and seem dead on as far as being true. The MOA one I have tracks very repeatable, but the click values are off just a touch. I tested it on paper several times at 100 yards, and if you dial 28 MOA it actually dials a hair over 29, so I had to correct this in my app.

I bought the 3-15 for the black friday special. Ups has it on the truck today. Rings are on the usps truck and thats all i need to set it up. Ill sight it in sunday, im super excited.

I went with moa version as i wasnt sure about the mil version. Reading now......did i make a mistake with the moa? Gun will only be a range gun and i doubt i will hunt with it.
