    Coyote shotgun loads/choke

3" 12ga specifically. Picked up an a300 max5 because I thought i needed to carry a shotgun with me when i was calling (which is rare and really just a poor excuse for buying it but that's neither here nor there). Anyway, since i got the thing what's anyone shooting. Open to whatever even those ridiculously priced 'coyote' rounds if someone makes a compelling argument but #4 buck or t's would be ideal. Don't really care that much about killing the things but not gonna sweat a few extra bucks for as little as i do it, won't add up to much.

I'm hopefully contributing , is there any issue with coyote loads thru a extended turkey choke, or are the chokes more or less the same?

Someone who answers that question might be seen as contributing. And therefore you by default may have. But as of now no, no contribution has been made

Haven't used a shotgun on varmints in many moons, our preferred load back in the 80's was copper plated BB or copper plated #2 shot, don't even know if they're still available with all the specialized loads for each critter that walks, swims, or flies.

#4 with a turkey choke. Worked good on hogs also.

I kill at least 1/2 of my coyotes (and bobcats) with a shotgun and I really like my Hevi-Shot Dead Coyote 3" T-shot. I use a Carlson Dead Coyote choke that's specifically designed for the Hevi-Shot predator loads. In my SX3 I get great patterns out to 55-60yds. I've killed them out to almost 75 but it's not as deadly as inside 60. On occasion I'll shoot some 3" Federal #4 buck that I get from some government trappers or even Fiocchi 2 3/4 #4. The Federal is good to 50 and the Fiocchi I try to keep inside 45. All approximates. I really love that Carlson choke - it seems to work well for me with everything I run through that shotgun. I have an 870 backup that prefers an old Primos Choke they used to make called a Dead Dog. It's about the same construction (.690 or .700) but they're discontinued. Rand Anderson still sells them but only for Mossbergs and in an Invector Plus model.

These are starting points. Every shotgun will be different and you're going to need to pattern some to see what works best in yours. Shotgunning predators is addicting, so be careful! Feel free to PM me if you have specific questions.

Gah ****it y'all are gonna make me buy a **** 50 dollar box of 10 shotgun shells.

Obviously its a starting point as with anything, but a starting point none the less.
