    Nosler Ballistic Tip

I read that these 120s were improved over the originals and he jacket is now thicker than it was. Several people have commented on successful kills on latge mule deer and even elk.

These seem to be a cheaper alternative to the Barnes TTSX. I know they're a different bullet, but same weight and dame accuracy. What do you think?

These are $23 right now and Barnes are $35 and up

That's what I load in my 7-08 for the kids. Kills deer and pigs like Thor's Hammer. They really expand well at 7-08 velocities and have enough mass to penetrate well. Had the first experience with one not exiting (after about 30 animals) Saturday morning but my boy shot the buck quartering to him at 100yds directly on the point of the shoulder. The hole through the ribs on the entrance side was about the size of a baseball and the heart/lower lungs were soup.

I load them in my wife's .243 and .260. I have been impressed with performance on the deer that have been taken with them. As long as you don't run them to fast they seem to work really well.

I'm one of they guys that have had horrible performance in the past with them.

Haven't tried them in about 15 years though.

Everything drops when hit with my 7mag 150 grain. A lot of meat damage, but for me that's ok.

I'll let you in on a little secret. Bullet manufacturers change designs without telling their customers. The 7mm 120 grain ballistic tip has a much heavier jacket than it did when it was originally introduced.

The bullet of discussion is the 7mm 120 grain ballistic tip. I've used it on the last 100 or so deer that I and others using my rifle has shot. I can't think of one instance where I was disappointed in the bullets performance. Not one "blow up." I constantly read about internet hunters having this problem but never hear it from people who actually use them hunting. I guess most people don't realize that Nosler make both ballistic tip varmint and a ballistic tip hunting bullets. The hunting bullets have thicker jackets. Use the right bullet for the job and it will get it done.

My brother and I used to use them in our .300 Win Mags, but quit using them because they would blow up more often than not.

I had one blow up 6 years ago on a buck shooting federal premium nosler ballistic tip ammo. Haven't used them since.

I would simply shoot whichever is more accurate in your gun...I have a 7-08 & plan to mess with it this season. I'm sorta like Mike & had bad luck with them in the past but have zero problems giving them another try in a round like 7-08 velocities.

I won't be trying in them in the 280AI as I'm slinging those pills at crazy speeds & the barnes is a better choice. I will tell you if the BT's hold together then you will like them over the barnes in regards to blood trails. Those solid bullets kill great but do not always leave much evidence on the ground.

This here. They do have a thicker jacket, but if your pushing them much over 3100 fps you'll be happier with a bonded bullet in my opinion...
