Ruger AR556 223 16.1 FLD

I know 3 people who own a Ruger 556 in one variation or another and they're all very reliable and good shooting rifles.

Anyone have any immediate upgrade recommendations to this gun?

Sling, weapons light, upgraded trigger, quality red dot, plenty of mags and ammo. For a basic defense ar.

Ruger 556 at $700 or Colt at $1,200 ?

Wanted the Ruger but got a S/W Sport this summer. I don't need anything fancy. I have a flip sight, small light and a sling. Goes bang 30 times over and over.

Several buddies have them and they absolutely love them. That would be the gun I would buy if I was looking for an entry level, non mil-spec AR. I went with the Colt 6920 and it's great as well. I wouldn't pay $1200 for the Colt personally and you should be able to find one in the 8-900 range again here soon.
