I recently had a 260 built and took it to the range for the first time this weekend. I loaded various rounds using Lapua brass, BR2 primers, 140gr hybrids and H4350 powder. The gun is a 1:8 schilen select match barrel on a Remington blueprinted/trued action. I used 41.5-45 grains of powder measured .015 off the lands. I have not seen any pressure signs even above max load and have received information from a competitive shooter that he uses 45.6 grains (very hot). My best shots were in the 41.7 range at around 2,700FPS, although at 45 grains it was around 2,900FPS. Unfortunately the 41.7 range only gave me .63 groups. This should be a one hole gun! Any suggestions on what I should try next?
It is very frustrating to shoot one hole groups with a 700 SPS 308 with minor upgrades and shooting more than 1/2" groups with a gun that cost 5X more.
