That to me about your Taurus TCP .380.

Does anyone else own aTaurus PT738?

This is actually my first personally owned handgun (and I got a super deal on a new one), and tonight was my first time running a few rounds through it. Of course, the range near me requires FMJ, which I knew a head of time. So, when I picked up my pistol, I picked up some CHEAP rounds (PPU 94gr FMJ, super cheap). I have to say, it's really not bad for being as small as it is. I ended up putting 50 rounds through it tonight, just to feel it and try to gather how it handled. It really seemed like the rear sights may just be a slight bit too short, or I was breaking my wrist downward, but most of my shot came low @ 5yds. I did notice (by the 3rd round of ammo), if I line the rear sights with the end of the barrel, instead of the front sight, it was a much tighter group. It is completely possible this was my own fault, not being used to this firearm. BUT, just like I had read, on several accounts, this pistol, has a hard time chambering the last round. Out of 50 rounds, in a 6 round mag, 5 times, the last rounds caught. Has anyone else come across this with yours? Does it reduce the more it breaks in? Or, are the certain things I can do to help resolve this issue? Let me know what yall have done!

*** I did adjust the mag spring a little to see if it helps a little next time.***

BUT, beyond that issue, it grouped well enough for me to hit chest cavity with all shots.

Does the maulfunction occur out of multiple mags or do you just have one?? personally, I would take the gun back if it's going to maulfunction, even if it's on the last round.

I've never had any issues with ball ammo but did have some FTFs with hollow points. Here's a simple fix for the mag and I've done this to both my wife's and daughter's TCPs. This is a good little firearm IMO.
Besides this simple mag fix I would suggest polishing the feed ramp as well and then shoot at least 400 rounds through the thing for proper break in. Try various brands of ammo and stick with what works. Good luck.

          Thanks RA!

I have been doing a little research here and there over the last few days, and the people that did have the same/similar issues have either done or had someone do the same for them. Since I got a really good price on it, I don't have any problems paying for some polishing and debugging from a shop, which I will probably do soon.

I did happen to also find some input on some of the real cheap rounds not being crimped as well as they should be and catching. I did also notice the rounds I used were extremely dirty, which I'm sure, didn't help matters any.

So, the first 50 rounds through it, I'll chalk that up to a combination of issues. I'll give her a real thurough cleaning and get some more reliable rounds and see how she runs them.

If anybody else has had any issues similar, feel free to chime in.

I carry one all the time, I put a crimson trace on it and it will drill that little red dot every time! Never had any FTF issues.

A couple of cheap upgrades to the TCP you can also do is to add a Pachmayr tactical grip and mag finger extensions. The grip and extensions give this little firearm much better control, comfort and ergonomic feel.
My daughter and wife have exhibited much better accuracy at the range after these mods. [emoji106]
