Date of manufacture is 1953. Has anyone else had a heavily used gun where the serial numbers on the receiver got worn bad enough that they are hard to read? There is zero evidence of any filing or grinding.
The relative who gave it to me is no longer alive. I'm fairly sure he was the original owner since he always purchased guns new and never any that were used, according to my knowledge. He still had the boxes they came in.
I do recall him mentioning that he had once been heavy into bird hunting. He also had to kill an abundance of skunks every year on one place. This particular shotgun was his weapon of choice for dispatching them.
