    Scope rings for Rem 700

Looking for recommendations on some good rings for my 30-06. Will be going by Cabelas tomorrow.

I'd go with a rail mount and rings. If I didn't go that route I'd go Talley. The last thing I would do is have a windage adjustable base/ring setup.

      X1000!

I vote TPS for both rail and rings, but you're not going to find that at Cabelas I don't think. Warne would be an acceptable alternative that's probably available at Cabelas. I prefer steel over aluminum, and I prefer the rail to have some sort of recoil lug to prevent slippage. Just my preferences. If you do aluminum rail, get aluminum rings, but if you go with a steel rail, you can use either, but I prefer steel.

Save the trip to Cabelas and order online. You'll pay less with a little poking around online.

Rail and steel rings with recoil lugs like the Leupold PRW rings.

I need to have them by this weekend to shoot, it will be my last chance to shoot at the distance I want.

Hands down best set for the money is DNZ one piece base and ring combo. NO moving parts equals better accuracy.

A lot depends on the intended use. I go with steel picatinny rails and appropriate rings because they are durable and the brands/models I use mitigate the effects of heavy recoil and large heavy scopes. I trust my TPS stuff, as well as my Nightforce stuff (TPS is pretty much identical as far as I can tell, for nearly half the price) to take a beating from my heavy scopes, heavy rifles and my clumsy butt. On the other hand, for a lightweight mountain rifle with a lightweight 3-9x40 scope mounted as low as possible, and I guy that isn't likely to drop it out fall on it, any of the quality aluminum setups like Talley, DNZ etc will probably be fine. I don't meat those requirements, and probably isn't good enough for me, I'm a belt and suspenders kind of guy.

I had a DNZ one piece but when I upgraded my scope to a Burris XTR II, I went with Talley Tactical rings and base. I was happy with the DNZ, im happier with the Talley. Big price difference so I knew I'd like this new setup better.
