    Which scope would you chose?

    ^^^ *choose

    I have a scope question

I've got a 7mm08 that will be set up for hunting TX game. I own a couple scopes that I can choose from. One is a Leupold FX3 6x42. The other is a Meopta MeoPro 3.5-10x44.

I like that the Leupold is 3oz lighter and am considerig it since this is lightweight gun to begin with.

I like that the Meopta has more magnification for zooming in on antler characteristics before the shot.

I'm probably splitting hairs for any shots under 3-400 yds and likely most shots will be 200 or under.

If you had to pick a scope, which one would you use?

Either scope is just about perfect. I'd probably go with the Meopta variable.

      Ive got both as well.

I like fixed scopes. No panic when deer jump out at 15 yards and youve forgotten to back out your zoom on your variable. More of an old school do-all style

That said.... those meoptas are haaard to beat.

I dont know what to tell you other than go with your gut. Id be willing to bet youre leaning towards one of them already lol

Meopta on that set up for me.

Both are exceptional choices. I really like the simplicity of the fixed scope but there are times when you would appreciate the extra 4x.

The meopta, I've never had experience with them and I am a Leupold fan but anything fixed is a terrible idea IMO. I like to see up and close as possible but also like to be able to back off during lower light situations.

Yes, exactly. And the Leupold appears to be a tad brighter at night but it really is splitting hairs.

I'd like a scope to match the wide variability the cartridge offers you and would pick the Meopta.
I can't think of many situations I'd go with a fixed at 6x. Generally I like fixed for closer up stuff and 4x is about max there for me. That said, I'm sure if I had one it'd shoot fine.

I slapped the Meopta on this evening. Looks great but is a little heavier than it needs to be. Any recommendations for a lightweight scope $400 and under?

Leupold will be your best lightweight choice. The japanese and europeans seem to use heavier tubes.

So here it is with the Meopta.

Still have to add the Timney

Leupold's VX3i 3-10x40 looks intriguing. 12oz, 10 power, vx3 glass, lifetime warranty, and on sale.

It really is a good scope, I bought it on a limb one day and it wasn't enough magnification for me but it was crystal clear

I have that gun but not the stainless version, I think a 10 power is about perfect for it, you'll love the gun, sub moa all day long!!
