    Kicking it Old School

I'm thinking this year the 45/70 will get used a lot

Now to decide which bullet I'm going to use this year.

325 grain or 405 grain lead?

If you're going to "kick it" old school then you need to shoot the lead.

True that. Guess old with a little twist of new with that one bullet. But not going to go as far to reload with BP.

I love those leverevolutions, I use them in 44 mag for deer.
But, i gotta agree with the big ole hunk of lead for old school.

You can't tease us like this and not throw up a pic of the rifle.

And agreed with above, lead all the way

Old school would be black powder in that case with a lead bullet.

If you go with 405 and do not handload, I highly encourage Buffalo Bore ammunition. The standard factory stuff is weak at best. It will certainly to the trick, but the trajectory is like shooting a cinder block from a sling shot.

I'm shooting 300 grain hand loads from mine and have very little elevation movement out to 100 yards. 2" high at 50 is 2" low at 100. That isn't much with this gun. 18.5" carbine Henry 010.

Regardless, have fun with it. These 45-70s are a hoot to hunt with.

Go with 405 grain as your old school choice
